The Eric Hoffer Awards® Awards

Gold Metal for Best Self-Published Book

Eric Hoffer Award WinnerThe Eric Hoffer Awards ® has awarded “Hubble Reveals Creation by an Awe-Inspiring Power” by J. Paul Hutchins (Imagination Publishing-Orlando) a Gold Medal in its Self-published Book category. The Eric Hoffer Award for short prose and books was established at the start of the 21st century as a means of opening a door to writing of significant merit. It honors the memory of the great American philosopher Eric Hoffer by highlighting salient writing, as well as the independent spirit of small publishers. The winning stories and essays are published in Best New Writing, and the book awards are covered in the US Review of Books.  Hubble Reveals Creation: By an Awe-Inspiring Power – The scope of this book scans not only the known galaxies and all they are comprised of, but also the quest driven by man’s curiosity and imagination centuries before Galileo improved the spyglass in 1609. A concise history of the development of the telescope relates how technological advances brought us to the age of the Hubble and Spitzer Space telescopes. The one hundred forty Hubble and Spitzer photographs included are hypnotic images that generate a sense of wonder, revealing how Hubble has captured the greatest cinematic drama of all time; the creation of an Awe-Inspiring Universe. Hutchins declares, “…Nothing comes into existence devoid of imagination.” He makes an intellectually compelling case that the order of the universe was a planned, rather than a random action. And the author’s own personal story is almost as interesting as the contents of the book. Eric Hoffer a former migratory worker and longshoreman burst on the scene in 1951 with his irreplaceable tome, The True Believer, and assured his place among the most important thinkers of the twentieth century. Nine books later, Hoffer remains a vital figure with his cogent insights to the nature of mass movements and the essence of humankind.
